Kristen Devaney has been an associate with Keith, Shapiro & Ford for three years. She began her career first as a law clerk and then as a practicing attorney in the areas of divorce and family law. Kristen represents clients at all stages of the proceeding, drafting all litigation documents, engaging in motion practice, participating in court conferences and settlement conferences, presenting emergency applications, conducting hearings, and preparing for trials. She is adept in all areas of matrimonial/family law, including custody, child support, maintenance, relocation, orders of protection, equitable distribution of the assets, identifying marital and separate property, dividing retirement accounts and pensions, college contribution, prenuptial/postnuptial/separation agreements, or enforcement and/or modification of a prior order. Kristen’s experience has overflowed into adoptions, which is a field of law that she is deeply passionate about. She has built a strong rapport with the Court such that she can make the adoption process as seamless as the end result is joyous.
While recognizing the need to litigate, Kristen also takes pride in bringing contested matrimonial matters to resolution. She is a strong believer in obtaining favorable and creative solutions to resolve the terms of a divorce rather than engaging in expensive and protracted litigation. To that end, she works with clients and adversaries to reach a meeting of the minds in a way that protects the clients’ rights and also allows clients to close this difficult chapter in the most cost-efficient yet productive manner possible.
Kristen graduated from Dartmouth College in 2006. While in law school, she served as a Note and Comment Editor of the Catholic University Law Review and as a Research Assistant for a highly established professor specializing in crimes against women and children. She participated in two law clinics during her tenure at law school, affording her the opportunity to litigate at D.C. Superior Court and represent young children facing legal ramifications.Every divorce and familial issue is different and every person’s reaction to these circumstances is different. Kristen approaches every individual case with the goal of bringing closure to this difficult time with sensitivity and sensibility combined with professional, aggressive, and zealous representation.

Michael earned his BA in Political Science from Stony Brook University in 1985 and went on to earn his JD at Western New England College (now University!) in 1988 and was admitted to practice in New York in 1989.
Throughout his career Michael has represented both major insurance companies as well as small businesses in commercial litigation and commercial collection matters. He has litigated contractual breaches to judgment and has collected millions of dollars for his clients. Michael views the litigation process as a chess game where the strategy of anticipating the ‘next move’ of the adversary is key and the goal is, of course, to win the game – or obtain judgment on behalf the client – in as few ‘moves’ as possible.
When the litigation process takes that inevitable wrong turn, Michael has had success on the appellate level overturning poor decisions and affirming proper ones. In many instances where an appeal is ‘lost’ on the particular facts of a case, Michael’s legal arguments based upon his previously established precedents remain upheld. Among his cases are, Ormond Park Realty Inc v. Round Hill Development Corp., 699 N.Y.S.2d 116, (Appellate Division, 2nd Department, 1999) determining whether or not a real estate broker has earned his or her commission and Burlington Ins. Co. v. Casur Corp., 123 A.D.3d 965 (Appellate Division, 2nd Department, 2014) involving an insurance company’s prima facie entitlement to judgment for unpaid premiums and whether the lack of discovery is a bar to the granting of summary judgment; which remain as leading cases in those areas.
Michael has also represented clients in residential real estate transactions and in minor traffic matters.
Michael has served penance for being a lawyer for five years in the early 90’s as President of his co-op board in Great Neck, NY and more recently for several more years as a Member of his homeowners association in Melville, NY.
Paying it forward, Michael has taught various business law classes as an Adjunct Professor at Briarcliffe College and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Western New England University School of Law Alumni Association where he has served as a Moot Court Judge and mentor to law students and newly minted attorneys. Michael is also a co-founder and Board Member of The Honeysuckle Foundation for Children with Cancer, formed in 2003 supporting psycho-social and child life programs that deal with quality of life issues that families face in combating cancer.A cautiously optimistic Jets and Mets fan, Michael spends his spare time kayaking with friends and family, fishing (and hopefully catching!) around Long Island or enjoying its North Fork wineries and restaurants.
As a personal injury attorney, Patrick represents clients who have suffered damages as a result of medical malpractice as well as automobile, construction and premise accidents occurring throughout Long Island and the five boroughs of New York City.
He is admitted to practice in all New York State Courts and the Eastern and Southern District Federal Courts. His trial experience and long-standing respected reputation with Judges as well as his adversaries, result in the best settlements and verdicts possible. He remains attentive to both the lawsuit and to the client throughout the legal process and remains available assisting clients with issues even after the conclusion of the case. His philosophy is that each case presents itself as the one opportunity for that client to be compensated for the injuries they have suffered with the goal to succeed in getting the best monetary outcome.
Patrick’s thirty plus years of experience within his field enables him to obtain the maximum amount of money damages that his clients deserve and are thus able to move forward with their lives.Hackett Law PC
I started my career as a programmer, network engineer and dba. It was Pre-Y2K I was asked to convert a non-compliant Y2K cobalt application into a VB front-end application with an SQL database on the back-end that would also be integrated with their newly created web site. The application was used to track vendor purchases in the three major airports of New York (JFL, Newark, and LaGuardia) for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. At that time, I also upgraded their infrastructure to include an internet connection and all new PCs.
Starting in 1994, I started a long successful career at Kelley Drye & Warren LLP as a LAN administrator and was quickly promoted to Manager of IT for the Connecticut Office. In 1999 I was promoted to Manager of Systems & Operations for the firm and then in 2005 promoted to Director of Information Technology reporting directly to the CEO. As Director of IT I was challenged with many projects that included firm-wide infrastructure upgrade, telephony upgrades, data center upgrades and data center moves. All with their own challenges but all very successful.
In 2009 I was confronted with the one of the most challenging issue of the time, cyber security. The FBI brought all the major New York law-firms together in one location to let them know that almost all the firms have been hacked. From that day forward every project and every process that was implemented was implemented with security involved. I was directly involved in writing the security policies, implementing a security department, change management, configuration management, incident response, annual security assessments and weekly vulnerability scanning. Log management (Log Aggregator) became a very important tool as well the analytic software used to analyze the log data. End-point protection became one of the most important aspects regarding security at the firm. Law Firms are a 24×7 shop. No downtime. This meant we needed to be ready at a moment’s notice to replace a user’s PC so that they can get back to work and then start the forensics on the incident.
As mentioned; the times have changed and so too the client relationship. Now most of the clients were challenging the firm with annual security audits. Every audit was different and wanted more security.I am an active member in the professional networking groups, LIPN, ILTA, Infragard, (ICS)2, and NY Chapter of (ICS)2. I graduated from LaSalle Technical, Chicago IL with an Associates of Electrical Engineer and Communications.
I am a Web Developer who is passionate about today’s web standards. I help organizations develop custom websites that are specifically catered to their needs.
I’ve worked with many Advocacy, B2B, B2C, Corporate, Consulting, Digital Marketing, Non-Profit, Startup organizations where I’ve focused primarily on Web Development as well as a Consultant. As a Web Developer, I have gained experience designing, developing, and programming company websites, mobile-friendly sites, and SharePoint on-prem and online websites with Microsoft Office 365.
I can solve problems by facing them headstrong, as well as being able to complete my objectives in a timely fashion. I can also troubleshoot website issues and identify areas of inefficiency thus developing a method for improvement.
My official website and portfolio can be found here.
